Assessment Service

Geronimo provide an assessment service support for participants requiring assessments and comprehensive reports. This service was developed to support participants who were on our waitlist and requiring evidence for the NDIS, as well as for participants not wanting ongoing Occupational Therapy supports, but requiring up to date assessments.

Participants can access this support, whilst on our waitlist for ongoing Occupational Therapy sessions, or as a one-off support for report writing purposes.

The Assessment Service is a short-term support (approximately 5-10 Occupational Therapy hours to complete the assessments and required reporting). This is quoted prior to engagement in services.

  • The ABAS-3 is high level, evidence-based assessment for a comprehensive functional review. This assessment compares functional capacity to same aged peers and is useful in determining the level of support a client requires during daily living. This can be used to support NDIS funding review applications, obtain/recommend ongoing therapeutic or NDIS funded supports, and to define goals/areas of development required.

  • The Independent Living Skills assessment is used to assess capacity to undertake independent living skills in order to identify and provide recommendations where appropriate. This report is useful for client focused, specific recommendations for independent living skills development.

  • The Sensory Profile can enable the identification of a participants sensory processing patterns. This can be used to consider how these patterns are contributing to or creating barriers for performance in daily life. This assessment can be used for consumable recommendations and accommodations in regularly accessed environments (i.e., home, community, workplace or school).

  • The DASH is a formal, evidence-based documentation of handwriting speed difficulties in students in upper primary and secondary school. This assessment can be used to provide accommodations in classroom settings, special consideration recommendations and support to access increased supports/equipment at school to support engagement.

  • The BOT-2 is a comprehensive motor assessment, specifically, in the areas of fine manual control, manual coordination, body coordination, and strength and agility. These results can help support equipment recommendations and group-based program recommendations. This report also can support ongoing therapies (such as ongoing OT, referrals to exercise physiology and/or physiotherapy).

  • The Beery VMI aims to measure how the visual perception and fine motor control systems coordinate with each other. This report is useful for participants who have difficulties with hand-eye coordination, handwriting and fine motor skills.
