How Do I Get Support Coordination Funding?
You can request Support Coordination funding during your planning meeting! While it’s not always guaranteed, you can explain to the planner that you’re finding it difficult to understand your plan and would like help navigating and implementing the supports you need.
What is the Difference Between Support Coordination and Plan Management?
This is a common question! Essentially:
Plan Management handles the financial aspects of your NDIS plan, such as paying invoices and managing your funding.
Support Coordination helps you understand and use your plan effectively, ensuring you access the most suitable and necessary supports. They will support you to link in with services and support you to develop your understanding of the NDIS.
Together, these roles help you make the most of your NDIS plan, giving you confidence that your funding is being used appropriately.
How Often Should I Speak to My Support Coordinator?
The frequency of communication depends on your individual support needs and funding. For participants with sufficient funding, I recommend checking in at least once a month. Additionally, I review budgets monthly to ensure your funding remains on track or to identify if a plan review may be necessary. I try to build a collaborative and holistic nature with all my participants and their families!!
Does My Support Coordinator Need to Live Locally?
No, your Support Coordinator doesn’t have to live in your area. However, having a local Support Coordinator can be advantageous since they’ll likely have a better understanding of the services and supports available nearby. That said, a good Support Coordinator will be proactive and capable of researching and finding suitable alternatives for you, regardless of their location.
